Not much reading here in February. I was just a little obsessed with the Olympics and watched waaaay more television than normal, which left less time for books. Sad, I know, but true.
Unfortunately, I didn't meet the challenge of reading a book that was recommended on TTPT. I did, however, buy a book that was recommended on TTPT does that count? I bought "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. It was recommended by Luci at Creative Tales by Luci.
I can't wait to read it.
I finished "Plain Truth". Excellent book and I highly recommend it. Jodi Picoult's books always have a twist at the end and I never saw this one coming.
I thought I had it all figured out...
...but I was wrong.
I started "The Friday Night Knitting Club" and am almost finished reading it.
It's the story of a single mom who is raising her daughter and running her yarn shop. Her tween daughter, Dakota bakes for the Friday night meetings. The women who attend are from all different backgrounds and different knitting abilities. Their lives become entwined and friendships are formed. An old friend and an old lover pop up just to make things really interesting. The storyline is very similiar to "A Good Yarn" by Debbie Macomber, which I loved.
It was a nice easy read after watching hours of Olympics and I have enjoyed it. My sister brought me the sequel, "Knit Two", so that will be my next read.
I can't wait to head over to Some of a Kind and see what you all have been reading. I 'm sure I'll be adding more books to my "To Read List". Turn the Page Tuesday is a great idea! Thanks Adrienne!
You will LOVE 'Shadow'... it's wonderful! One thing I found fascinating was the language... amazing to think that this is a translation!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
I've been curious about the knit book ... looks like that one is going on the list! I've yet to read a JP book - each time I check my library hers are checked out. I'll take that as a good sign ... a must read!
ReplyDeleteI read Friday Night Knitting Club last month also. It was a fun read, not to heavy but a good storyline and I really enjoyed the characters.
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!
I just finished "The Friday Night Knitting Club" I don't knit but this book made me want to learn. It was a fun book to read.
ReplyDeleteOh -- "The Friday Night knitting Club" was a wonderful book. Loved it. I'll have to pick up the sequel. I didn't know there was one!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how distracting life (and the Olympics) can be. I feel like I really haven't sat down for more than a few minutes at a stretch to read lately.
I really hope you enjoy Shadow - thanks for mentioning it and my blog too. Like you, February seems to have whizzed by. Friends keep mentioning Jodi Picoult so I must find one of her titles I like the sound of and read one. Soon. happy reading. x
